The Texas State Board of Education will meet daily from Monday, August 31 to Friday, September 4, 2026. Their agenda can be found HERE.

Of particular note is Item 2 on the agenda for Monday - a review of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for high school social studies classes, including U.S. History, World History, U.S. Government, and World Geography. The process and the proposed standards have been controversial and are consequential: the outcome will affect over 5 million public school children for years to come. If you are moved to advocate for accurate, high-quality, teachable TEKS, email your SBOE member, and make sure your friends and family in diverse areas of the state are contacting their members as well.

If you would like to testify in front of the SBOE, register at this link before Friday, August 28th at 5:00pm.
